Course description:

The IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, the largest international graduate water education facility in the world based in Delft, the Netherlands, offers the full-time Masters degree programme in Urban Water and Sanitation taught in English, which has 3 specialisations:

• Sanitary Engineering

The Delft-based programme is 18 months, starting in October, whilst the Joint Programme with Univalle, Cali, Colombia, is 20-month duration, starting in August. You will learn to design sewage collection and treatment systems and develop rational approaches towards sustainable sanitation management via cleaner production, appropriate treatment and resources re-use.

• Water Supply Engineering

The Delft-based programme is 18 months, starting in October. You will learn to deal with technical aspects of drinking water treatment and distribution in an integrated way, paying attention to the choice of technologies and tools, ranging from low-cost to advanced options.

• Urban Water Engineering and Management

This is a 20-month joint programme offered with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand, starting in August. You will learn to deliver both water and wastewater services within the context of the urban water cycle, covering both technical and management aspects.

Once you have successfully completed this programme, you can place your profession in the wider social, economic and environmental contexts of urbanisation and municipal water and infrastructure services provision. We also aim to provide you with the tools and knowledge to contribute to the development of innovative approaches to the provision of sustainable and equitable municipal water, sanitation, environmental and infrastructure services in developing and transition countries.
