Course description:

The MSc Food Security and Development course at the University of Reading is a 12 months full time or 24 months part time taught Masters degree programme that addresses the challenges of global food insecurity and poverty and helps students prepare for a career in the international food security and development sectors. The Masters programme will help students:

• develop a multidisciplinary understanding of how food systems work in developing countries, and the main drivers of global food insecurity, malnutrition and poverty;
• build knowledge of how food systems interact with institutions and development policies at international, national and local levels; and
• gain the conceptual and practical skills necessary for the analysis and development of planned food security interventions.

Students will become a member of the School’s Graduate Institute of International Development, Agriculture and Economics (GIIDAE). As GIIDAE students, they will have the option of undertaking a placement during the summer period.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants should have a good first or second class honours degree (or international equivalent). The required IELTS score is 6.5 overall with no element less than 5.5 (or equivalent).
