Field(s) of study:
Scholarships will only be approved for programmes that lead to a higher education award that is included in the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) at Levels 6 to 10, which is made by selected awarding bodies.
Number of Scholarships:
It is expected that a total of 22 scholarships will be funded from the HEA in the academic year 2013/2014.
The scholarship is open to any non -EU/EEA students however the 2013/2014 scheme will prioritise applications targeted at China, India and Brazil.
The HEA will award a scholarship fund to the student (through the HEI that the student is attending) amounting to €10,000 for one study year. This fund is directed at covering student costs and living expenses.
The HEI will be required to give a FULL fee waiver to the student for the scholarship year (i.e. tuition fee and registration charge are waived). This is the minimum matching funding requirement that institutions will be required to make to the scholarship programme.
You must meet the eligibility criteria set forth by the higher education institution you are applying to.
The Higher Education Institution (HEI) will nominate scholars to the Higher Education Authority (HEA) for approval. Therefore, you must apply directly to the Higher Education Institution to be considered for the scholarship. The closing date for receipt of proposals to HEA is on 21 December 2012. Deadline for applications to HEIs should be earlier.
