Brief description:
The University of Edinburgh will offer two scholarships for postgraduate study in any subject offered by the University to students from Southern African countries.

One of the scholarships will be available for a one year Master’s degree programme and the other scholarship for a three year PhD degree programme.
Target group:
The scholarships are targeted for Southern African Countries: Angola, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Swaziland, Lesotho, United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.
Scholarship value/inclusions:
The scholarship covers the overseas rate of tuition fee and University accommodation for the duration of the postgraduate degree programme.
Eligibility:
The scholarship will be awarded to applicants from Southern African countries who are accepted for admission on a full-time basis for a postgraduate Master’s programme of study or PhD degree programme at the University of Edinburgh.
Applicants should already have been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh and should have firmly accepted that offer or be intending to do so.
Scholarship Criteria:
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain, the international equivalent of a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level.

Within the personal statement candidates should outline what they expect to gain from their Master’s programme and how it will enable them to make a future contribution in their home country.
